The global fishing industry is estimated to produce more than $2 trillion in value annually, and in the United States alone it employs 1.2 million people.
It accounts for almost 20 percent of global GDP.
The fishery, and fishing for it, has also been implicated in the loss of the world as a whole, and has a devastating impact on marine ecosystems.
What is ocean fishing?
The oceans are rich in fish species.
They contain over 30 percent of all fish species and are a major source of protein for humans.
They also hold the key to our livelihoods, supplying nearly a quarter of the U.S. population.
It is estimated that 1.6 billion tons of fish are harvested annually in the U
